Leslie Fylling has taught music to the district’s youngest students for many years and was pleasantly surprised when she was honored with the first Teacher of the Year award for the Tea Area School District last year.
Now she has also been chosen as the region’s Teacher of the Year and is in the running to become Teacher of the Year at the state level.
“Teaching music is the best job in the world,” Fylling said, adding that it is an ongoing goal to instill a lifelong appreciation of music within each student.
Principal Betsy Drew, who has worked with Fylling for 10 years, said, “She is an excellent music teacher. Music is the class students look forward to each week and their faces show it.”
