The Tea City Council met Oct. 3 and held a public hearing for a conditional use permit.
The council heard from Angie Cauwels who wanted to run an in-home daycare at 340 E. Kevin Drive. Under the permit, Cauwels can have up to 12 children in her care. She is licensed by the state.
Planning and zoning administrator Kevin Nissen said they had gotten a couple of phone calls about it from neighbors who were concerned about children running out into the street after balls. Cauwels said the children she currently watches have been playing in the front yard lately because her fenced in backyard floods and the mosquitoes have been terrible.
The council approved the permit.
Nissen presented the plat for lot 1A of the Tea Athletic Park Addition. The plat was for a property transfer to Weisser for the addition to their building. The city will be selling it to the company. The council approved the plat, declared it surplus property and donated it to the Tea Economic Development Corporation.
The council will have the second reading of the 2017 appropriation ordinance at their next meeting. They will also discuss the plat for lot 4, Fogelman’s First Addition, section 31.
The council approved the plat for lots 2-9, block 1 and lots 16-20, block 2 in High Pointe Estates second addition. They approved the plat of lot 1A and 2A in Badure’s Addition. That piece of property is a narrow piece of ground that is subject to flooding. It is an unbuildable piece of ground.
They went into executive session at 7:21 p.m. to discuss contracts.
