Titans prepare for 2020 Homecoming Week

Tea Area High School royalty candidates were announced last week as the Titans prepare for the 2020 Homecoming Week.

King candidates include: Trevor Welch, Carter McGregor, Cooper Leslie, Austin Lake and Garrett Kolbeck. Queen candidates include: Erika Kint, Kennedy Konrad, Ellie Ritter, Olivia Ritter, and Megan Stadtfeld. The Homecoming King and Queen will be selected on Monday, Sept. 28 during Coronation. Coronation will begin at 7 p.m. out on the football field. There are no tickets needed to attend. Those attending are asked to social distance as best as possible and wear a mask when within six feet of others.

This year’s theme for Homecoming is “Home SWEET Homecoming”. Dress up days have been selected for the High School. They include the following: Monday, Sept. 28: “ROLO”-ver and Get out of Bed (Pajama Day); Tuesday, Sept. 29: THS is full of SMARTIES (dress like a smart teacher/student); Wednesday, Sept. 30: You are a LIFESAVER (dress like a superhero); Thursday, Oct. 1: You are the MIKE to my IKE (dress as twins) and Friday, Oct. 2: Life is SWEET at THS (dress in spirit wear and Titan colors).

One of the main changes this year is the Homecoming parade. While the District isn’t having their traditional homecoming floats and parade, they are having a “parade of houses/businesses” contest. The winner will receive tickets to the Homecoming football game on Friday, as well as a trophy. To participate send your address to tlinksd1@gmail.com. A tLink volunteer will take pictures of your house. Pictures will be posted on the Tea Area School District Facebook page for voting. A map will also be posted with the houses/businesses marked to allow for a drive by viewing during Homecoming week. Voting will end at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 1. Winners will be announced at 5 p.m. that evening.

Homecoming Week wraps up on Friday, Oct. 2 as the Titan football team takes on Lennox in the 2020 Homecoming match-up, beginning a 7 p.m. There will be limited attendance at the game; tickets will be required. There will be four vendors pregame in the High School parking lot at 5:30 p.m. The District reminds those attending to wear masks and social distance.
