Working toward equality in STEM fields

Margaret Larsen and her husband, Wayne, are prime examples of the increasingly popular movement to reduce traditional gender expectations placed upon members of both sexes from birth, right down to the initial color preference of pink or blue.

 

The Larsens have championed increased STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education opportunities within the Tea Area School District and presented information about starting similar STEM-specific programs to area educators at the annual Women in Science event, held at the Southeast Technical Institute in Sioux Falls this March.
