Event raises $1,500 for Tea Area Community Fund: Accepting grant applications now

A Feb. 4 wine and beer tasting event and silent auction raised more than $1,500 for the nonprofit Tea Area Community Fund.
All proceeds from the Sips, Suds & Snacks fundraiser will benefit the endowment fund, which provides grants every year to Tea-area nonprofit organizations for projects that enhance the quality of life for residents.
“We’d like to thank everyone who generously donated to our event. Its success helps us grow our fund so we will be able to give back to more community projects each year,” said Gloria Woodring, TACF treasurer. “We’re grateful to the people who participated and bid on auction items, and we also want to give a special thanks to the Tea American Legion for hosting the event and helping out.”
Since its start in 2005, TACF has had more than 300 businesses or individuals contribute to the fund that is managed by the Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation.
Thanks to that generosity, the funds impact continues to grow each year as the fund balance increases.
The goal for the fund is to distribute $9,000 to Tea area nonprofit organizations for community projects. Last year they awarded money for buddy benches at the school, band instruments, handicapped-accessible doors at Trinity Lutheran Church and dining room furniture for Morgan Lane Village.
The TACF is accepting applications through March 10 for its next round of grants, which will be awarded April 15. Application forms are available at www.lyndacook.exitsiouxempire.com/, at the bottom of the page.
