Chili Cook-Off Benefit to be held Saturday for local woman

Friends and co-workers of long-time Tea resident, Pam Teslow have organized a benefit to be held this Saturday from 4 to 10 p.m. at the Tea American Legion.

Teslow has recently had to undergo extensive spinal surgery.

“I guess it’s hereditary,” she explained, “It is kind of like arthritis in the neck except my vertebra are just crumbling.”

Her twelve hour surgery took place three months ago and since that time she has not been able to return to work. Her doctors told her she could be out of work for up to six month. Teslow is a bartender at the Tea American Legion and has worked there for five years.

In order to help her pay for medical bills and living expenses, friends have organized a Chili Cook-Off Benefit. The benefit will take place at the Legion Saturday, Jan. 13. The chili cook-off will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. Teams were to pre-register with Tori (605-201-2733 or 605-368-5135). Tasting and admission tickets are available at the door for $5. Following the chili cook-off, there will be Bingo, Texas Hold ‘em and Blackjack with prizes to be won. There will be a game entry fee with additional buy-ins and prizes for the winners. The benefit will also include door prizes, raffles and a silent auction.
