Two killed when plane returning to Tea crashed
A plane crash brought tragedy to the area on Christmas when a plane that was scheduled to land at the Tea airport crashed in Sioux Falls.
At approximately 5:05 p.m., Sioux Falls Fire and Rescue was called out to 4209 S Birchwood Avenue for an aircraft crash that left two dead.
The plane had crashed directly in the backyard between the two homes located at 4209 and 4213 S Birchwood. Videos posted from the scene by bystanders showed intense flames and heavy smoke plumes.
According to Sioux Falls Police Captain Loren McManus two people died in the crash—husband and wife Vaughn and JoAnn Meyer, both 68 and of Sioux Falls. They were the only ones inside the plane.
No injuries were reported for both bystanders and emergency personnel.
