Grant allows students to explore aviation
District seventh-graders now have the opportunity to explore flight and space with new simulators.
Middle school assistant principal Allison Bertram said the simulators are part of the Project Lead The way flight and space course. The new simulators will add another layer to their learning experience.
“The simulators will help to expand our students’ current learning experience within the flight and space course. They will provide a hands-on component to enhance their knowledge and understanding,” Bertram said.
The district received a $118,702 Career and Technical Education Innovative Equipment Grant from the state in December to buy the simulators. The grant funding will allow students to explore the aviation pathway with hands-on experience while also learning the importance of science, technology, engineering and math with the field of aviation.
The district will receive the simulators in time for the start of the 2023-24 school year.
