Rep. Dusty Johnson makes stop in Tea
The Greater Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce hosted Inside Washington with Rep. Dusty Johnson on Wednesday, Sept. 2. The event was recorded and broadcast live on Facebook from a Tea location. The topics covered in the conversation were selected based on input from Chamber member businesses.
Jeff Griffin, President and CEO of the Greater Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce introduced the segment.
Natalie Eisenberg, board member for the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce, asked questions of Johnson.
The first topic of conversation was regarding the COVID-19 Pandemic and how South Dakota compares with the rest of the country. Johnson stated that for South Dakota, numbers, so far, have been pretty good. He said the state is, “social distanced by nature.”
He added, “There is a lot of story left to tell with COVID-19, we want to continue to be vigilant. We do see cases coming up; the good news is hospitalizations are quite low.”
Johnson also said that Congress will likely have another Covid-19 package before the end of September.
Regarding the pending COVID-19 vaccine, he stated Congress has put a lot of money toward this fight.
“I do think in a very strong, bipartisan way, Congress has been willing to act and invest in things like vaccines,” Johnson said. “Until we get the health care issue under control, it’s going to be hard to have the kind of economy growth we need to have.”
