Titan girls fall in Border Battle
On Friday, Jan. 9 the Tea Area High School girls’ basketball team took on West Fargo Horace during the Border Battle at the Pentagon. Horace jumped out early and the Titans couldn’t recover, suffering the 70-41 loss. Tea Area was led by Anna Binde who finished with 12 points in the game, going two of four from downtown. Binde also grabbed six rebounds and had one assist. Emma Lingren finished with ten points, going five of seven from the field. She pulled down five rebounds.

Titan boys improve to 7-1 with wins over Sioux Center, Pierre
On Friday, Jan. 9 the Tea Area High School boys’ basketball team competed against Sioux Center in the Border Battle at the Pentagon in Sioux Falls. Woodring wins title at Mid Dakota Monster
Tyler Woodring captured a championship to lead the Tea Area High School boys wrestling team at the 2026 Mid Dakota Monster, held recently in Presho. Woodring went undefeated on the day to claim first place at 138 pounds. Woodring received a first-round bye before pinning Caden Singrey of Kingsbury County in 2:49. School board recognizes students for academic achievement
The Tea Area School Board recognized two students at its Jan. 12 board meeting. Superintendent Tonia Warzecha recognized Jackson Bender and Dawson Ballman for their perfect scores on the spring 2025 math and science assessment. Bender had a perfect score on SD Science Assessment during the Spring 2025 administration and Ballman had a perfect score on SD Math Assessment during the Spring 2025 administration. Titan girls get back to back wins out West
This past weekend, the Tea Area High School girls’ basketball team headed out west to face off against Douglas on Friday, Jan. 2, and Sturgis Brown on Saturday, Jan. 3. Titan boys improve to 5-1 with trio of wins
The Tea Area High School boys’ basketball team headed out west last week, facing off against Douglas on Jan. 2 and Sturgis on Jan. 3. The Titans brought home two victories, defeating Douglas 62-40 and Sturgis, 62-40. “It was terrific to get through the long road trip with two victories. The long layoff, combined with the overnight long trip, could have been a crutch, but I thought our boys really handled themselves well mentally and played with an appropriate level of energy.

Structure fire displaces Tea family on New Year’s Eve
A residential structure fire late New Year’s Eve destroyed a home in Tea, displacing the Hastings family and prompting an outpouring of community support. Tea Fire was dispatched to the fire at approximately 11:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31, in the 2500 block of North Devon Avenue. Upon arrival, crews observed flames coming from both the house and the attached garage and immediately began suppression efforts. Tea Fire was assisted on scene by Harrisburg Community Fire & Rescue,
