As many construction projects slow or stop to bypass the often harsh, unpredictable weather that South Dakota winters bring, local developer Arlyn Olsen says work on the city’s first hotel is still in progress.

“We may open later in May than originally hoped for because of setbacks with the weather, but there’s still a lot of work going on inside that isn’t really visible to the public right now,” Olsen said.

Olsen, his wife Cheryl and their son Eric are working with GrandStay Hospitality, LLC, headquartered in Brooklyn Park, Minn., to bring add hospitality experience to their vision for the hotel. The Olsens will share ownership of the property as Tea Hospitality, LLC.
