Taking it to the mat: Titan wrestlers make school history

For the first time in school history, the Tea Area Titans have qualified four wrestlers for the State A Tournament, to be held this weekend in Sioux Falls. Nick Eli and Tanner Fridrich each placed third at the Region 2A Tournament in Tea to qualify for the State Tournament, Eli at 138 pounds and Fridrich at 152 pounds. Also qualifying were Mitchell Messersmith, who captured fourth place at 126 pounds, and Jeremiah Maka who also captured fourth at 182 pounds.
“This is a great accomplishment for these athletes, but only one step towards their ultimate goal of placing at the state tournament,” said Titan head coach Dale Daugherty.
