Kleinwolterink headed to Motocross Championship
To secure his place at the championship, Kleinwolterink earned sixth place or better in three events at last weekend’s regionals event in Minnesota.
Keegen Kleinwolterink of Tea will participate in the Rocky Mountain ATV/MC AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship at the Loretta Lynn Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tenn., next month. Championship events are scheduled for July 26-Aug. 1.
Kleinwolterink has been a motocross racer for four years and began training for the championship event two years ago.
Typically, Kleinwolterink trains by participating in area races as well as at the Spring Creek Motocross track near Milleville, Minn.
To prepare for the championship, Kleinwolterink had to first become an area qualifier by placing eighth in his class, which he did in April and May at events in Tigerton, Wisc. and Little Falls, Minn.
Next was regionals, held in Milleville last weekend. Kleinwolterink competed with over 60 other riders from all over the country to secure top spots in three classes: second in 250c Limited, third in 250C and sixth in 250C Modified.
His performance earned him an invitation to the championship at Loretta Lynn’s to compete against the country’s other top Motocross athletes. The “ticket” to the event, Kleinwolterink said, is to show up at the starting gate. “I plan to cherish this accomplishment and invitation,” he added.
