TASD construction continues, new elementary on track to open by fall
Work is on pace to open Frontier Elementary as planned this fall, construction manager Clair Willemssen reported to the Tea Area School Board at their Monday meeting. Crews are in the process of pouring curb and gutter for the parking lot, as well as curbing around the playground area, and should be ready for grading soon with asphalt to be poured by the end of the month. An updated budget showed that a substantial amount could be left in the contingency fund for that project, perhaps as much as $30,000 of the $42,000 in the fund, Superintendent Jennifer Lowery, Ed.D., said.
Initial foundation work has begun at Legacy Elementary and the sanitary sewer and water lines are in place, Willemssen said. “Things are looking good, no major surprises so far,” he added.
