Parade of Homes makes stop in Tea

The Home Builders Association of the Sioux Empire (HBASE) kicks off its fall Parade of Homes Sept. 12 and includes a stop in Tea.

The fall Parade of Homes runs Sept. 12-14 and Sept. 19-21. Homes on the parade will be open from 1-5 p.m. on the Saturdays and Sundays and 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Mondays.

The lone home from Tea on the parade is located at 1100 Spencer Lane on the north end of town. Aurora, LLC builder Mel Zelmer constructed the home and is a longtime member of HBASE. In his more than 30 years of membership, he thinks he has missed maybe two Parade of Homes.

“People come and look to get ideas. This is where they go window shopping so to speak,” Zelmer said.

He said showcasing a home on the Parade of Homes is some of the best advertising a builder can get.

“You probably get 200 people through on a weekend looking. They might not be interested immediately but if they like what they see, they’ll keep your name on file for when they get ready to build,” Zelmer said.
