Frontier Elementary ribbon cutting and open house to be held Sept. 28

The Tea Area School District met Sept. 14. Clair Willemssen, construction manager for the Tea Area School District building projects, updated the board on the progress at Frontier Elementary. He said the project is mostly complete and the school has temporary occupancy. A final certificate of occupancy will be issued once the landscaping is done. Willemssen said they are finishing up the last items on the punch list. The kitchen passed inspection so they are now able to make and serve lunch at the Frontier building.

Superintendent Jennifer Lowery said they will host a ribbon cutting and open house at Frontier Elementary Sept. 28 from 5:30-7 p.m., with the ribbon cutting at 5:30.

Willemssen also reported on Legacy Elementary’s construction. The asphalt paving got done on the existing parking lot within hours of the heavy rain a couple of weeks ago. Legacy Elementary principal Betsy Drew had not heard of any complaints or concerns about kids moving around during construction.

In new business, Lowery recommended the approval of open enrollments for one first-grader from Legacy to Frontier; one third-grader from Frontier to the intermediate school; one seventh-grader and one 12th-grader. The board approved.

The board also approved the denial of open enrollments due to capacity for one kindergartner, one first-grader and three 12th-graders to Connections Academy. They also approved the resignations for Lexy Kacmarynski with TASK and the following new hires:
