School district business manager resigns position

At the October Tea Area school board meeting Oct. 12, board members accepted the resignation of business manager Kathy Cleveland.

Cleveland submitted her resignation to go into effect in mid-December. The hope is to find someone to work alongside her before she leaves the Tea district.

Cleveland noted in the bills portion of the meeting to add $64,024.17 to capital outlay for the boilers and adjust the budgeted amount of $5,000 for a pickup to $8,059. The radios the district had purchased earlier in the year cost $3,000 less than budgeted so that money will go toward the pickup.

High school student council members Zach Gors, Coleman Peterson and Josh Quamen updated the board on school sports, band, chorus, honor society and clubs.

Cleveland reported that the school’s data shows 1,608 students but the state shows 1,605. The district is working with the state to get the right data.

The board moved to accept the snow removal quote from Diamond D and the fuel quote from Eastern Farmers. Daggett Tree Service was the only bid on the dirt pile at $100, which was approved.

Wayne Larsen, operations manager, said the large old boiler at Legacy had been replaced by two more efficient boilers. The remaining older boiler will serve as a backup.

Superintendent Jennifer Lowery presented information about technology support with a quote from Riverside Technologies Inc. They are the company the district has used in the past. Since July they have spent $12,000 for technology services. Lowery said this new quote of $3,750 per month would include monitoring the district’s computer system and a person at the school buildings to work on fixes. The person would be an employee of RTI, subject to quarterly reviews and would have no teaching duties. The board approved to hire RTI at $3,750 a month through June 30, 2016.
