Take a sneak peek at Teapot Days

As Tea’s best three days of summer approach, the community looks forward to celebrating not only a beloved tradition, but also a milestone: the 20th anniversary of Teapot Days.

And whether you dig mud volleyball, adore parades, go wild for the carnival rides, venerate classic vehicles or get fired up by fireworks, Teapot Days offers something for everyone.

“It’s the most unique thing we have. There’s so much going on,” said Jenni White, who coordinates the schedule and vendors. “It’s a true community event, with so many different businesses and organizations making it a community celebration.”

That celebration begins with free food and inflatables at the CommuniTEA BBQ from 5:30-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, at Trinity Lutheran Church.

Teapot activities pour in over the next three days, starting Thursday, June 16, with the opening of the Mighty Thomas Carnival from 12-10 p.m. and the crowning of this year’s Ma and Pa Teapot, Corky and Cindy Miles, at 7 p.m. at the community hall.

Friday marks the debut of the Teafest Hot Rod Show & Shine at the Tea Athletic Complex. Free for the public, the annual car and motorcycle show runs 6-9 p.m.

Kids will pedal-pull at the city park, the community hall lawn will be adorned with antique tractors, Tea Steakhouse will host an outdoor concert and, of course, the rides will be running on Brian Street.

Saturday starts bright and early with pancakes and sausages from 7-9:30 a.m. at the community hall, followed by the 10 a.m. parade led by parade marshal Jo Niles.
