Genesis Autoworks Inc. celebrates 20 years of business

Local automotive repair shop Genesis Autoworks Inc. will celebrate 20 years of business this weekend with a special customer appreciation event.

Saturday, September 17th, will be a little different than usual for this local garage. Genesis is hosting a “show and shine”, in addition to live entertainment, food and beverages, door prizes, and a bouncy house for the kids. The celebration planned in honor of 20 years in business wouldn’t be possible if not for the lifetime of hard work, determination and dedication by Genesis owner Randy Haberer.

Haberer wasn’t always Owner and President of his own business. Like anyone, he started out as a youngster with a dream and a passion.

“I have been a car enthusiast since a very young age,” he said. “Repairing and painting anything to make it more attractive,” Harberer said.

It also helps that school offered an avenue for Haberer to focus his academia attention on that passion.

“In high school, there was a year long auto body class at Southeast Tech, when it was on 14th and Cliff, and that was when I knew this career was for me.”

Upon graduation from Lincoln High School in 1985, Haberer learned the business while working for others, including North Cliff Custom Body Shop. He refinished fire trucks at Central States Fire Apparatus around that time, as well. Haberer later returned to STI, this time as a college student majoring in Business. He established Genesis Autoworks Inc. in September 1996 following graduation.

From a one and a half stall garage in Sioux Falls, the business only expanded from there. Within six months, Haberer had moved to a three stall shop in Tea, then to a few other larger shops in Sioux Falls before finally settling down just west of the Harrisburg exit nearly ten years ago.

Genesis does collision repair, restorations, and light mechanical repairs on cars, trucks and motorcycles. Haberer is very pleased with the growth in quantity and quality of his business.

“We are now a 5 tech shop, all of whom take much pride in quality workmanship on every vehicle.”
