Local developer aims to build dream homes for his clients

If you’re looking for a new home, who are you going to call? Try Otten Construction. Herman Otten Construction, Inc., is a locally owned and operated construction company founded in 1996. Herman Otten (pictured at left) has been in the industry since he was just 14, having built and remodeled homes with his father. “I started young, watching and learning from my father,” said Otten. And while it may not have been his dream job at 14, it certainly turned into that. “I really enjoy building and putting together homes that people will love.”

Otten recently purchased 16 more lots in the south west area of Tea near the elementary and middle school, with construction already beginning on two of the lots. Otten will start with single-family homes with high quality workmanship in every detail from the garage to the bathroom. He currently has two, full-time employees and works with subcontractors from around the area. Otten specializes in custom homes, additions and remodeling. He is licensed and bonded in the area so his customers will have peace of mind when working with him, and while his heart lies in Tea, he builds where he is needed, having developed homes in Sioux Falls and Vermillion.

Otten enjoys building garden-view ranch homes with walkouts in the basements so his customers can enjoy their yards as well as their homes, with homes ranging from $289,000-$309,000. He enjoys working with his customers from start to finish.
