Oral Interp Team places second at Regions


On Tuesday, November 14th, the Tea Area Oral Interpretation Team competed against eight schools at the Region 1 meet. The top three contestants in each category advance to the state competition which will be held in Aberdeen on Dec. 1 and 2.

Tea Area students who were among the top finishers are Junior Jaelyn Morehead, who placed second in Serious and Non-Original Oratory; Junior Anna Klocke, who finished second in Humorous; and Sophomore DeLaney Krogh, who earned second place honors in Poetry. The Tea Area Reader’s Theatre team of Morehead, Klocke, and Krogh placed second. Freshmen Tori Bartell and Damien Devries earned an alternate position with their Duet. Overall, the team placed second at Regions.

So far this season, several of the Tea Area students have staged and finished in the top six at numerous meets.

High School Oral Interp Coach Laura Bain said, “As a Speech and Debate Team, we placed first among all ‘A’ schools at two separate meets, the Golden Eagle Cup in Aberdeen and Pumpkinstakes in Watertown.”
