Two officers hired to join Tea Police Department

The Tea City Council held their second regular meeting of the month on Jan. 22, 2018. The January warrants and minutes of the January 8 meeting were approved.

A public hearing to transfer the on-sale liquor license from Sky Lounge LLC to West Austin Inc., doing business as Sky Lounge located at 200 S. Main Ave., Tea was approved. Finance officer Dawn Murphy said the sale of the Sky Lounge was to be finalized Jan. 24.

A public hearing was held for the first reading of Ordinance 252, an Ordinance amending Chapter 13, Non-Conforming Uses, of the Zoning Regulations of the City of Tea.

Planning and Zonning Administrator Kevin Nissen said the ordinance was amending text to allow a non-conforming use to be enlarged or extended by a conditional use permit.

He explained, “If someone wants to expand a non-conforming structure we can look at the plans, and we can maybe come up with a comprise. There’s a list of certain criteria that would need to happen.”

Mayor John Lawler declared it a first reading.
