Titans add on two more wins

On Saturday, Feb. 10 the Tea Area High School boys’ basketball team hosted Lennox during Pink-out night.
The two rivals brought intensity to the game early with Lennox taking a quick lead. However, the Titans answered back quickly and took the lead with just five minutes left in the first, Lennox never led again.
The Titans’ increased their lead to 19-10 after one quarter of play and went on to get the 64-42 victory.
“I thought both crowds did a great job of providing a tournament atmosphere. I have always been impressed with how hard our teams compete with one another, yet there is a level of respect our programs have that at least make it a friendly rivalry on the court,” said Titan head coach Chris Fechner. “Both teams competed hard in this game. I really liked our defensive intensity, especially to start the game.”
Tea Area had 12 steals in the game and forced 17 turnovers.
Offensively, the Titans were led by Noah Freidel who recorded a double-double scoring 22 points and pulling down ten rebounds. He also had five assists and two steals. Kade Stearns had 14 points, four rebounds, five assists and two steals. Justin Hohn finished with 11 points, four rebounds, two assists and a team high six steals. Chris Morales had five points, three rebounds two assists and two steals. Seth Kocer added four points, four rebounds, three assists and one steal. Jake Friedrich had three points, three steals and both Kaleb Joffer and Nash Johnson provided two points.
The Titans shot over 44 percent in the game while the Orioles shot just 34 percent.
“We didn’t shoot the ball as well as we have lately, but I thought we did good limiting their second chance opportunities and our on the ball defense was really good,” said Fechner.
Prior to their win over Lennox, the Tea Area Titans took on Parkston on Friday, Feb. 9. The Titans used an explosive first quarter where they took a 26-6 lead.
