School supply donations accepted at Sunshine Foods
In a few short weeks the kids will be heading back to school. For some families, shopping for the needed school supplies creates a greater financial hardship on an already tight budget.
Inter-Lakes Community Action Partnership offers the School Supply Project, which helps families get the supplies the students need without creating the added financial stress. On average, 90 students are helped by the program — about 45 students from Tea.
To make this program the continued success it has become over the years, Inter-Lakes needs the community’s help. Donation bins are set up at Sunshine Foods in both Lennox and Tea. Purchased supplies can be dropped off anytime from now until Monday, August 20, 2018.
Sunshine Foods carries school supplies and Tea Sunshine Foods owner, Kyle Svanda said, “We here at Sunshine Foods feel it’s important to give to those less fortunate as they head back to school”
For those that want to help, but aren’t fond of shopping, monetary donations can be sent to ICAP, PO Box 370, Parker, SD 57053, and a local ministry will pick up additional items on their already-planned trip.
Julie Anderson, of Inter-Lakes Community Action said, “I know there are more families in need of serving than we have had in the past.”
All donations are appreciated, items of particular need include whiteboard markers, Sharpies, Kleenex, backpacks, and calculators.
If you are or know of a family in need of this program, please contact ICAP as soon as possible for an application. Feel free to contact Julie Anderson at 605-940-1909 with any questions.
Distribution of supplies takes place in August, families who have contacted ICAP in advance come to pick up the supplies.
