Championship on the line


With two scores in the third quarter, the Tea Area Titans put away West Central in semi-final football action last Friday getting the 28-0 victory and earning a spot in the 2018 State A Football Championship game.

By the time the majority of you read this, it will be determined whether this year’s Titans brought home the school’s first ever State football Championship. The team was scheduled to take on Dell Rapids on Thursday, Nov. 8 with the title on the line. Watch next week’s Tea Weekly for complete coverage of the Championship game.

In the semi-final game, Hunter West began the scoring for the Titans, finding Wyatt VanTol for the 12 yard touchdown in the second quarter. Kade Stearns kicked through the extra point to give Tea Area a 7-0 lead heading into halftime.

In the third, Carter Slykhuis took the hand off and ran it in from seven yards out for the score. Stearns’ point after put Tea Area up 14-0. Still in the third, VanTol scored his second touchdown of the night, running it in from one yard out. Stearns’ point after gave the Titans a 21-0 advantage.

In the fourth, the Titans sealed the victory as VanTol scored his third touchdown of the night. VanTol intercepted West Central’s pass and returned it 41 yards for the score. Stearns’ point after gave Tea Area the 28-0 victory.
