Winners announced for Tea Fire Department contest

Some lucky area children will get to be the envy of their classroom when they show up to school in a unique ride. The Tea Fire Department announced the winners of a contest where local kids will get a special ride to school in a fire truck.

Back in October, the Tea Fire Department participated in Operation EDITH while hosting this contest. Standing for “Exit — Drill — In — The — Home,” Operation EDITH is a fire safety program that is designed to promote strong safety habits for families.

To do this, the Tea Fire Department drove around Tea back on Tuesday, October 16, with their lights and sirens on. Local families were encouraged to practice and run through their own personal fire drills when they heard and saw the fire trucks.

As a part of Operation EDITH, the Fire Department hosted a Kids Contest where local children were given the chance to be entered into a contest to win a fire truck ride to school if they turned in safety forms to the Tea City Hall by Tuesday, October 16.
