Titan girls fall to Dells, McCook Central
On Friday, Dec. 14 the Tea Area High School girls’ basketball team hosted Dell Rapids and despite getting 13 points from Olivia Ritter and ten from Bailey Conrad, the Titans fell 67-60 to the Quarriers.
“I thought our girls were focused and ready to play. After losing the first quarter 15-24, the girls showed a lot of grit and hung around with a tough Dell Rapids team,” said Titan head coach Adam Schorzmann. “We’re still building and figuring out how to play well with each other, but once we figure that out, I think we have an opportunity to do something special this year. We can’t be satisfied with just ‘hanging around’ with teams.”
The Titans’ also got nine points from Desirae Patzwald in the game.
On Monday, Dec. 17 the Titans traveled to McCook to take on McCook Central Montrose.
“This was a great test for our team. MCM was very tall and athletic all across the board and I thought our girls were ready to battle from the start,” said Schorzmann. “We looked to attack their 2-3 zone defense and did a great job for most of the game. We had about a four minute period to start the third quarter where we didn’t play well defensively and offensively we were putting up some quick shots that led to points on the other end for them.”
Coach Shorzmann acknowledged the team can’t have lapses throughout the game where they let the other team get a chance to gain momentum.
