Minority Falls releases first single - Features vocalist Cady Munce, of Tea
For some artists, there is a moment that they know performing is what they feel called to do. For local Tea resident, Cady Munce, that statement rings true.
“I would say the first time I knew I wanted to pursue this dream was the first time I sang on stage,” Munce said, “Everyone seemed to be cheering me on and loving what I was putting out there, it was such an amazing feeling.”
Munce is a 2017 graduate of Tea Area High School and a lifelong resident of the community. The singer has recently joined Sioux Falls rock band Minority Falls as their lead vocalist, and says that feeling has returned.
“It’s definitely more fun playing with a band rather than a karaoke song,” Munce said, “It does take me a little while to get pumped on stage simply because I’m so shy, but with my bandmates next to me, it makes everything so much easier.”
Minority Falls was formed in 2016. The young band is comprised of musicians ranging in age from 14 to 19. The band started with Sydney Eichinger on lead guitar and Hunter Phinney on bass, with Simon Wormstadt on rhythm guitar, and Aric Wilcox on drums joining about a year ago. Munce has been a part of the band for a little over six months.
She said they held auditions for a vocalist after the previous quit. Munce was the last to audition over a two week period. Once she auditioned, she was voted on the same day — May 26, 2018.
Munce said their music style is diverse.
“We mainly perform rock but it varies,” she said, “anywhere from Guns-n-Roses to Green Day to Paramore. Our original work, however, is rock.”
Minority Falls’ original single, “Dreams”, is scheduled to be released this weekend on KBACK Rock Radio. The band is celebrating with a single release party/concert on Saturday, January 19th at Club David, located at 214 W. 10th St., Sioux Falls.
Special guest PowerPlay is also slated to perform. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. and the show starts at 8:00 pm. Seating is limited.
The single release party is a big step for the band, Munce is excited to see where things go from here.
