Titan boys add two more wins
On Tuesday, Jan. 15 the Tea Area High School boys’ basketball team hosted Aberdeen Roncalli and shot over 52 percent in the game to get the 77-47 victory.
Tea lead 20-7 after one quarter of play, but the Cavaliers fought back to trail 36-24, outscoring the Titans 17-16 in the second quarter.
“We played a very good first quarter holding them to seven points, but we let our guard down in the second,” said Titan head coach Chris Fechner. “ We went on some scoring droughts and had some turnovers that gave them some momentum going into halftime.”
However, Tea Area put the pressure back on in the third, getting the 21-11 point quarter advantage and found continued success in the fourth quarter, taking the 20-12 advantage.
“We came out in the third quarter and really asserted ourselves on the defensive end that led to some transition baskets and open perimeter looks,” said Coach Fechner. “We got great production from our starters, four guys in double figures, and our bench contributed 10 points as well.”
Noah Freidel was one of four Titans in double figures on the night. He also recorded a double-double, scoring 22 points and pulling down ten rebounds. Freidel hit three three-pointers in the game. He also had three assists and a team-high five steals in the game.
