District works toward grant to move industrial arts to high school campus

The Tea Area board of education met Feb. 11 at 6:30 p.m. The meeting started with an excellent presentation by the Legacy Elementary third and fourth grade Student Council members. They have many “big ideas” for their school and recently raised $2,066 in funds to help with their projects. Three members of the High School Student Council presented an entertaining video on oral interpretation and debate.
Operations Manager Wayne Larsen provided an update on both Venture and Frontier Elementary schools construction progress. The cold weather has slowed down the masonry work at Venture Elementary. A second masonry crew has been requested when the weather warms up to speed up progress. At Frontier Elementary, footing and foundation work is nearly completed. An over dig was required to stabilize the foundation which will require using some of the construction contingency fund.
