Officers respond to domestic shooting in Tea
On August 25, 2019 a shooting was reported at 8:38 p.m. in Tea. Police Officers were dispatched to a weapon’s violation in the 300 North Main Avenue block.
Tea Police Chief Jessica Quigley reported the suspect was not on scene at that time, but was later arrested at 9:00 p.m. at a casino in town.
The suspect was identified as 30 year old Joshua Charles Kelly.
Kelly was formally charged with three counts of Aggravated Assault Domestic, two counts of Commission of Felony while Armed with Firearm, Possession of Controlled Substance, Ingestion of Controlled Substance, two counts Possession of Firearm by Drug Felon, Felony Simple Assault Domestic Violence, Reckless Discharge, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Kelly is being held without bond in the Minnehaha County Jail.
The victim, only identified as female, current lives in Tea. She did not receive treatment for her minor injuries.
Also responding to the call were the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Game Fish and Park officers, and the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
Chief Quigley said, “Everyone generally responds to a call like this.”
Tea Volunteer Fire Department and PatientCare EMS were also on scene.
