Titans shine at State

With 347 team points, the Tea Area High School golf team claimed runner-up honors at the 2019 State A Golf Tournament held in Vermillion on Monday, Oct. 7 and Tuesday, Oct. 8. The second place finish was the highest the team had placed all season long. Winning the State team title was Sioux Falls Christian.
Helping the Titans to their second place finish at State were Cooper Leslie and Keeton Newborg, both of whom finished in the top ten among the best golfers in the State.
Leslie tied for fourth place individually shooting a two-day total of 164. In the opening day of the Tournament, Leslie shot an 82, shooting a 41 on the front nine and a 41 on the back nine. Highlights included a birdie on holes three and 11. In the second day of action, Leslie shot an 82, shooting a 41 on the front nine and a 41 on the back nine. He recorded a birdie once again on hole three.
Leslie earned All-Tournament team honors.
