Cannabis facility conditional use permit approved

The Tea City Council met March 7 and approved a conditional use permit for a medical cannabis business.

They held a public hearing where no one from the public commented on the CUP. The council approved the permit for The Tea Tree, LLC, a medical cannabis dispensary that will be located at 113 E. Lipton Street, Suite C.

The council approved the building plans and building permit for Ace Hardware. The building will be 16,500 square feet. Precast walls were being set this week at the location.

They reviewed the bids for the regionalization wastewater pump station and force main project. All bids came in $2 million or more over the projected cost. The reason for the increase is that cost of materials for this project have gone up 150-170 percent in the last 6-12 months. They approved awarding the bid to Metro Contracting with a bid of $11,494,327.81. The city continues to work on also securing ARPA funds for this project.

The council approved two pay applications. They approved one from Hulstein Excavating Inc. for $535,478.99 for street and utility improvements in the Hagedorn Industrial Park. They also approved one from Muth Electric for $9,408.36 for the Heritage Parkway traffic signal.

They approved the hiring of police administrative assistant Brian Tvedt at $21 per hour. They also approved the audit engagement letter from Williams & Company to perform the audit for the city this year.

The council adjourned at 7:29 p.m.
