The Tea City Council met March 21 after their meeting as a local board of equalization.

The council heard appeals on 21 properties before beginning their regular meeting at 7:49 p.m.

They approved the building permits for the interior buildout at Cornerstone Baptist Church, expansion and remodel at Jokerz Casino, the building addition at DeGeest, remodel at Tea Super Titans Daycare, interior buildout at Edward Jones and the interior buildout at Tea Tree Medical Cannabis.

The council also approved the plats for lots 13A, 14, 15 and 16, block 4 in Heritage Addition, tract 4 in High Pointe Estates Addition, tract 6E and 6F in Southwest Industrial Park, tract 1 and 2 in Atkins Fritz Addition and lot 5, block 10 in Heritage Addition.

They approved the pay application from Visions Construction Group for $55,315.

They held three public hearings. The first one came from Rebecca Wynia, who was applying for a conditional use permit to run Little Sunshine’s Daycare at 610 N. Cole Ave. She plans to have no more than ten children in her care. The permit was approved.

The council held the first reading for ordinance 292, an ordinance rezoning a portion of Heritage Addition from Natural Resource Conservation to single family residential. Mike Runge submitted the application that would involve building four single family residential lots.

They approved the retail on-off sale malt beverage and South Dakota farm wine licenses for MG Oil DBA Jokerz 7 Casino for their expansion into suite C and D.

Under zoning, the council approved the site plan and building plans for Heritage apartments at North Main and Gateway Boulevard. The plans call for a 22-unit, 3-story apartment building.

They also approved the revised Serenity Development engineering plans for phase 1. The revisions incorporated new data from the new wetland study and replaced the long cul-de-sac with Dutch Street.

Planning and zoning administrator Kevin Nissen presented information on the Nine Mile Lake Addition Development engineering plans for phase 1 and 2A.
