On Tuesday, Oct. 31 the Tea Area High School volleyball team’s season came to an end, falling to Lennox in the first round of Region 4A playoffs.

The Titans dropped the first two matches to Lennox (14-25, 16-25) and then bounced back to take the third (25-21) but lost the fourth (22-25) to end their season with the 1-3 loss.

“This season looked different than most seasons. We substituted half of the games we had for AA schools to get ready for the transition to become a AA program,” said Titan head coach Eric Thien. “It was safe to say we had the hardest schedule of all Class A schools.”

The Titans faced off against AA powerhouses like Harrisburg, Brookings, Sioux Falls Jefferson, Brandon Valley, Sioux Falls Lincoln, and Yankton.

The team earned wins this season over West Central, Vermillion, Arlington, Beresford, and Tri-Valley.

“There were times this season that the team played very well and looked like a well oiled machine. Consistency was hard for us this year,” said Thien. “I couldn’t have asked for a better group character-wise though. Every girl had a great attitude and there was little to no pointing fingers going on. It was a pleasure coaching these girls this season.”

Six Titans graduate this year, they include: Gwynn Campbell, Addy Tow, Rylan Konrad, Mara Grant, Emily Froendt, and Julia Haack.

“Each of them played an important role on the team and will be missed greatly,” added Thien
