Homecoming to be celebrated September 9-15

Homecoming festivities begin this weekend with the Powderpuff Football game on Saturday, Sept. 9 at the football field beginning at 6 p.m.

The Theme for this year’s Homecoming is “Night At The Movies”.

Festivities continue on Sunday, Sept. 10 with the TAPPS Color Fun Run at the Tea Athletic Complex at 1 p.m. tLINK will be holding their Kickball Tournament and BBQ also on Sunday, beginning at 3 p.m. at the Tea Athletic Complex.

Coronation will take place on Monday night, Sept. 11 at the high School gym, beginning at 7 p.m. One of the highlights of that event is the crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen. This year’s royalty court includes: Samuel Almas, Keegan DeYoung, Carter Turek, Garrett Wiebenga, Jessen Wiebenga, Jenna Gass, Mara Grant, Rylan Konrad, Haidyn West, and Hannah West.

Also on Monday, the Tea Area High School boys’ golf team will compete at Brookings at 10 a.m.

On Tuesday, Sept. 12 events continue with the Cross Country team competing at Yankton Trails at 4 p.m. A boys’ and girls’ soccer double header event will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 12 as well with the Titans hosting Aberdeen at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. A home volleyball game will be held against Sioux Falls Jefferson, beginning at 7 p.m.

On Wednesday, Sept. 13 Seniors and the Homecoming Court will go on Elementary Building Tours.

On Thursday, Sept. 14 the Varsity golfers will be at Brandon for an 8:30 a.m. meet. Another boys’ and girls’ soccer double header will be featured with the Titans at Brandon at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Volleyball will be at home against Brandon at 7 p.m.

On Friday, Sept. 15 a Pep Rally will be held at the high school at 11:30 a.m.

The Tea Area Homecoming Parade will take place on Friday, Sept. 15 at 1:30 p.m. Parade line-up will begin at 12:30 p.m. at the Tea Area Middle School parking lot. Parade line-up will occur in the order in which floats arrive.

The parade route is featured above at left, and will move east on Brian Street from the Middle School, head south on Main Ave., west on Charish Street and north on Cole Ave (returning to the Middle School parking lot).

Following Friday afternoon’s parade the Tailgating will begin in the high school parking lot at 3:30 p.m. There will be a Hall of Fame Reception at the football field at 4 p.m. The Titan football game against Douglas will kick-off at 6 p.m. that evening.

On Saturday, Sept. 16 the Competitive Dance team will perform at Brookings at 11 a.m.

There will be dress-up days throughout the week as well. High School and middle school students will have Jersey Day on Monday, Sept. 11 (Sand Lot): 70s day on Tuesday, Sept. 12 (Grease); Pink Day on Wednesday, Sept. 13 (Pink Panther); Tourist Day on Thursday, Sept. 14 (Up); and Titan Spirit Day on Friday, Sept. 15 (Remember the Titans).
