J&R Mechanical announces $2,500 scholarship for TAHS seniors

J&R Mechanical and Tea Weekly newspaper have teamed up to promote the Ethan David Chapman Scholarship for Tea Area High School Seniors.

Josh Chapman, owners of J&R Mechanical in Tea wanted to provide a scholarship in honor of his son, Ethan David Chapman. He was born on April 5th, 2001 and passed away shortly after birth.

Josh said, “I think it will be a great way to remember and honor his short life.”

The Ethan David Chapman Scholarship is open to any Tea Area senior enrolled in the Fall Semester (2023) in any two- or four-year post-secondary school, regardless of major or GPA. Applications are due May 11, 2023. The selected recipient will be awarded $2,500, payable to student upon proof of enrollment.

The one page application is available online at www.teaweekly.com or at Tea Area High School. This year’s application can also be viewed on page 2 of this week’s paper. Applications should be returned to Tea Weekly, PO Box 98, Tea, SD 57064 by this year’s deadline of May 11, 2023.

You can drop the application off in person at the Tea Weekly office (502 Figzel Ct., Suite B - next to the post office). Office hours are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

The recipient will be announced by Monday, May 15.
