Lincoln County Fairgrounds Foundation receives grant

As part of the 2021 grant distributions for the Lennox Area Community Fund (LACF), a $5000 grant was awarded to the Lincoln County Fairgrounds Foundation.

“We are so excited to receive the grant from the Lennox Area Community Fund,” said Fairgrounds committee member Kristi Sweeter. “It will be used toward building a showring at the Lincoln County 4-H grounds.”

As readers may know, the Lincoln County 4-H grounds are located at the former Goeman Auction Pavilion located north of Lennox on Highway 17. Dirt work has been done for the new show ring.

“We are hopeful that we will be able to secure the remaining funds so we are able to build in the spring or early summer,” said Sweeter. “Our number one priority is having the showring completed for Achievement Days the end of July.”

Sweeter says the impact of the grant from the LACF has been noticeable.

“It helps bring us closer to being able to build a showring,” she said. “The showring will not only be used by 4-Hers but also other youth activities as well.”

She added that the fund-raising efforts for the 4-H Foundation continue.

“We are so appreciative for this grant, but we are not quite to our goal yet,” Sweeter added.

Donations for the Lincoln County Fairgrounds Foundation can be mailed to PO Box 82, Lennox, SD 57039.

Sweeter said they are a 501c3 organization so gifts are tax deductible.

“We are also selling bricks that will be engraved. These are a great way to honor or remember someone. Bricks are $250.00 and a form can be requested from linco.fairgrounds@gmail.com. Anyone with questions may give me a call at 605-940-5606,” she added.
