Lincoln County seeking those interested in District #2 commissioner vacancy

CANTON, SD - The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners is seeking letters of interest for interested parties to be appointed to the vacant seat in District #2.
To be considered for appointment, qualified interested persons (i.e., resident of district and eligible voter) shall submit a letter of interest to the Commission Office. Candidates will not be considered if they have not submitted a letter of interest to the Commission Office.
Letters of interest may be mailed or emailed to the Lincoln County Commission Office:

Letters of interest are due by the end of business (5:00 PM) on Monday June 29, 2026.
a. Included in the letter must be the individual’s name and residency information.
b. Suggested topics to be included in the letter are as follows:
i. Why do you want to serve as a Commissioner?
ii. What qualifications, experience, and skills do you have that would make you a valuable representative to the constituents of the District?
iii. What strengths, abilities, and talents would you bring relevant to the position?
iv. In your opinion, what is the most important role of a Board member?
The Board of Commissioners will begin interviews of potential candidates during the next Regular Meeting, June 30, 2026 at 6:30pm, with interviews taking place at future meetings as needed.
Any person who submits a letter of interest that is not a resident of District #2 or any individual disqualified from holding public office will not be considered and removed as a potential candidate.
