Links Chiropractic opens in Tea

Originally from Renner, SD Dylan Brende knew he wanted to open his new chiropractic office in a small town, and Tea seemed to be a perfect fit to build his business.

“I used these spaces as a reference while looking at Sioux Falls,” Brende said, “but I always came back to Tea. Tea is booming and I’m from a small town; went to a small college; I’m use to this community feel.”

Links Chiropractic is located at 760 East 1st Street in Tea. The newly renovated office space located next to Variable Investment Advisors has several treatment rooms, a reception area, and office. Brende opened Links Chiropractic in August. He graduated from Northwestern Health Sciences University (NWHSU) with a Doctorate of Chiropractic and a sports emphasis last December.

“My background, history, and involvement with sports throughout the years helped me pursue the sports emphasis,” Brende said, “The sports emphasis included elective classes that were focused on sports-related education and topics for chiropractic treatment. Part of my background and involvement in sports included golf and volleyball at Mount Marty College (now Mount Marty University). I was a member of the golf team and I was the Student Assistant for the women’s volleyball team for all four years of college.”

Brende said although he has a sports emphasis he provides chiropractic care for anyone and offers services for the whole family. He uses a diversified technique with hands on adjusting, an electrical stimulation unit and other modalities to work on individuals as needed.

As a fairly recent graduate himself, Brende said that his dream was always to start his own business. Even though he didn’t know it would happen so soon.

“I was working in Sioux Falls and when the work ended in April, they said just go for it,” Brende said after hearing encouragement from his family and friends. So that’s just what he did.

“The space is perfect for what I need,” Brende said of his location near Fareway Foods.

He hopes to bring vitamins and supplements into his clinic as well, from companies like NutriDyn.

“The specifics with NutriDyn haven’t been defined yet, but I have been in contact with them recently,” Brende said, “I hope to bring in supplements like Vitamin D, Vitamin C, B Vitamins, Fish Oils, Zinc, and Magnesium — just to name a few.”

He wants people to know that chiropractic care can help with many ailments.

“I see a lot of patients with neck complaints and headaches,” he said. “And your typical low back pain and a few shoulder complaints.”

“If you fell off a ladder putting up Christmas lights you might need a few visits or you might only need one,” Brende said.

“It’s your body and you know when you’re hurting and need to be seen.”

He said starting a business as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to ebb and flow has been interesting.

“It affected the clinic in Sioux Falls,” said Brende, “Numbers go up and down again, but vaccinations have made a difference in getting back to normal living.”

Brende hopes to get involved with the community as he continues to grow his practice, maybe work with the local golfers and even partner with a golf course. The name of his business, “Links Chiropractic” was inspired by his love of golf after all.
