The Tea Area School Board met Aug. 11.

The board approved the adult school lunch meal price at $5.15 which is an increase from the previous $5.

Operations manager Wayne Larsen said they received temporary occupancy on Aug. 1 and used the PAC for staff in service on Monday.

The office is open for business.

Vocal and band staff are moving into their rooms.

The art teacher and science teachers are moving into their classrooms.

There’s still some carpet, handrails and lighting in the PAC and they need to replace some motors in the stage.

Larsen said the bus barn has all the doors on the building and the electrician started wiring.

The board approved the second reading of numerous policies. They approved these policies: GCDB - Criminal Background Checks, GCDBC - Criminal Background Checks-Volunteers and Employees of Contractors, BBB - School Board Elections,

IGBA - Special Education and Related Services, JEA - Compulsory Attendance Ages and JECE - Student Withdrawal from School.

Superintendent Tonia Warzecha noted the district has an administrative rule waiver ready to go if needed for some long-term substitutes in the next couple of months.

Warzecha noted they welcomed staff back on campus on Monday. The theme for the year is Be the One. She shared a poem with staff and challenged everyone to be the one for each other and students and families.

The board went into executive session at 5:58 p.m. for personnel.
