Over 150 Tea Area Fifth Graders Learn About Robotics by Touring DeGeest Corporation

Over 150 Tea Area 5th grade students will tour DeGeest Corporation leading up to National Robotics Week, and more tours are welcome. Educating through real-life learning is the best way to convey the opportunities for robotics and automation careers in manufacturing. Starting in March, DeGeest Corporation has an open invitation to classrooms to experience a learning tour of the advanced robotics and automation capabilities at DeGeest.
The tour is guided by President Derek DeGeest as he shares the importance of collaboration with robotics and automation in manufacturing. And, how DeGeest is integrating the same solutions used at their facility into other manufacturers across the USA and Canada. Tours are open for students, parents, school faculty, community, and media.
“Our customers have trusted us for 45+ years giving us a reputation of integrity, hard work and quality. Why wouldn’t we want to pass that along to the next generation?” said President DeGeest.
National Robotics Week is celebrated to inspire students into robotics and STEM related fields. National Robotics Week will be celebrated this year, April 8-16. The mission of National Robotics Week (RoboWeek) is simple — to inspire students in robotics and STEM-related fields and to share the excitement of robotics with audiences of all ages.
Earlier this week Harrisburg CTE Eighth Graders and Tea Area Fifth graders enjoyed a tour at DeGeest Corporation.
A tour at DeGeest is a way to excite a young mind, connect a learning experience to a real-world application, and open eyes to how modern manufacturing excels when people are collaborating with robotics and automation. The DeGeest facility gives an up-close look at robotic welding, software automation in welding, self-learning robotic painting, as well as the many careers in manufacturing.
DeGeest Corporation is a vocal advocate for the manufacturing industry, partnering with area technical colleges, high schools, middle schools, elementary schools, and clubs such as Lego League, and organizations such as Build Dakota, to encourage students to choose rewarding careers in manufacturing.
