Petitions now circulating for open Tea city council positions



Individuals wanting to serve their community can do so by serving on the city council.

This April there will be an election in Tea to fill the vacant positions on the council, including the Mayor’s seat.

The following offices will become vacant due to the expiration of the present term of office of the elective officer:

Mayor – Two Year Term

Council member Ward I – One Year Term

Council member Ward I – Two Year Term

Council member Ward II – Two Year Term

Council member Ward III – One Year Term

Council member Ward III- Two Year Term

Current Council members Jim Erck, Joe Weis and Terry Woessner, will all be seeking re-election. Current Councilman Casey Voelker will be seeking election for the Mayor’s position.

After 24 years of service to the community the current Mayor John Lawler has decided not to run.

Circulation of nominating petitions began January 28. Petitions must be filed in the office of the finance officer located at 600 E. First St. between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. or mailed by registered mail no later than Feb. 25, 2022.
