TBA teams shine at tourneys

The Tea Baseball Association’s competitive teams continue to do well in tournaments around the region.
The 13U Titans took home 1st Place in the Marshall (Minnesota) 13U Tournament June 6-7. They dominated with a 20-0 win (over Benson, Minnesota), 10-2 win (over Marshall Tigers Orange) and 6-2 win (over Diamond Ducks). Pitcher Colin Terveen struck out 10 batters. The Titans scored nine runs on three hits in the second inning and 10 runs on nine hits in the third inning in their 20-0 win.

TBA’s 3rd Grade Navy, 4th, 5th and 6th grade teams played in the newly renamed Cubby’s Jeremy Deutsch Memorial Tournament in Brookings June 5-7. The 3rd Grade Navy took 4th Place. They went 2-0 on Friday against Sioux Falls and Brookings teams. Saturday saw losses against a very good West Central team, followed by a 8-5 loss to the Brandon Valley Sticks after leading the whole game.
TBA’s 4th Grade team went 3-1 on the weekend, earning 5th Place. They lost their first game to Madison, 6-5, and won the next three handily (15-0 over Marshall Black, 15-0 over Brookings Red and a closer 7-6 victory over Harrisburg Donnelly).
The 5th Grade team also played in Brookings, going 0-4 on the weekend. They had a 4-3 loss to Brookings Black, 12-6 loss to Dell Rapids Navy, 10-7 loss to Brandon Valley Bandits, and 11-6 loss to Harrisburg Tigers (Mayer).
TBA’s 6th Grade team took 3rd Place in Brookings. Homeruns were the name of the game for this team: Ariston Miles, Oakley Smith (2), Marshall Stobbe and Kellen Toupal each homered, plus a grand slam by Camden Moses in a 18-0 victory over White 12U. The Titans won 3-1 over Dell Rapids, won 10-4 over Black 12U and lost 20-4 to MAG 12U.
