The SD-ACDA Senior Honor Choir was held July 28 - August 2 on the campus of the University of Sioux Falls. The finale concert took place at the Washington Pavilion in conjunction with the Reunion Choir celebrating 50 years of the event.
Current Tea Area High School students who were selected to participate in this year’s honor choir were Kairis Thomas, Arden McGraw, and Kimberlee Brockberg (pictured above right). Students are selected via live audition consisting of sightreading and tonal memory exercises, a written terms test, a patriotic solo, and a memorized art song solo.
Mrs. Janice Gilbert, TAHS Choir Director and an alumnus of the honor choir (1996), along with 2024 Titan graduate, Brayden Cambier (2023), performed in the Reunion Choir (pictured at right).
During the performance, Mrs. Gilbert was awarded the organization’s Encore Award (pictured above).
The Encore Award is awarded each year by the South Dakota Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association to a choral director working in South Dakota in recognition of excellence and achievement in the field of choral music.
