Tea Legion defeats West Central in walk-off fashion

On Monday, July 10 the Tea Legion baseball team hosted West Central. The Tea TinCaps were able to grab the victory in walk-off fashion, winning 7-6 over West Central.

The game was tied at six in the bottom of the eighth when Ethan Vis singled, scoring one run to give Tea the win.

After trailing, 5-2, the TinCaps tied the game in the bottom of the seventh thanks to a wild pitch, and a single by Vis.

In the top of the eighth, a wild pitch gave West Central the lead, 6-5 but in the bottom of the eighth inning, Tea went back into the lead after Kellen Sattler scored after tagging up, and Vis singled, each scoring one run.

Teagan Dedula led things off on the hill for Tea. He gave up five hits and five runs (four earned) over five and one-third innings, striking out five and walking four. Eric Munson appeared in relief for the TinCaps, allowing three hits and one run. He recorded seven strike-outs.

Vis and Sattler each collected two hits for Tea. Boston Willemssen led Tea TinCaps with two walks. The team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying six walks for the game.

Prior to their game against West Central, the Titans took on the Elk Point Jefferson Sr. Legion team on July 9. With strong pitching from both sides, Tea was able to get the edge, winning 3-2.

With the game tied at 2-all after six innings of play, the TinCaps scored in the top of the tenth when one run was scored on a balk, winning the game.

Nate Christensen earned the win for Tea. He allowed four hits and zero runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking none. Sam Werdel started on the mound for Tea. The starting pitcher allowed four hits and two runs over five and one-third innings, striking out six and walking five.

Vis went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the TinCaps in hits.

The TinCaps will host Baltic Legion Post 175 on Friday, July 14 and will host Elk Point Jefferson at home on Sunday, July 16.
