The City of Tea proudly showcased its hospitality and community spirit as it hosted the 4th Grade State Baseball Tournament over the weekend. Teams and fans from across South Dakota experienced Tea’s impressive athletic complex, enjoyed local restaurants, retail shops, and service businesses, and witnessed the dedication of countless volunteers and the Tea Baseball Association program in action.
On the field, Tea’s own fourth grade team put together a strong showing, earning second place in the lower division (pictured at right, bottom).
Meanwhile, several other Tea teams were also in action at state tournaments held in Mitchell:
• Tea’s third grade team captured top honors, bringing home the championship trophy (pictured above).
•Tea’s sixth grade team (pictured at right, top) made an impressive run to the semifinals, ultimately falling by just one run in a heartbreaker.
The state tournaments in Mitchell, held July 18–20 at the Cadwell Sports Complex, featured 60 teams from across South Dakota’s Class A baseball communities, including Aberdeen, Brandon Valley, Brookings, Harrisburg, Huron, Mitchell, Pierre, Rapid City, Renner, Sioux Falls, Spearfish, Tea, Watertown, and Yankton.
From hosting duties at home to big wins on the road, Tea’s youth baseball players found success on the diamond.
