Tea Trinity Lutheran to host Community Blood Drive
Trinity Lutheran Church and Community Blood Bank come together to provide an opportunity for residents to provide lifesaving blood donations to community patients in need. Due to recent poor weather conditions, Community Blood Bank was forced to cancel several blood drives which has put the blood supply at critical shortage stage. People can donate blood Tuesday, Feb. 6 between 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Tea SD. As a thank you special thank you gift, those donating receive a $10 Scooters gift card. Donors may schedule a donation appointment by logging onto cbblifeblood.org, selecting “events”, and Feb. 6 or call Community Blood Bank at 605-331-3222.
Ken Versteeg, Executive Director of the Community Blood Bank, emphasizes, “We continue to see a decrease in blood donations with cold, flu, and COVID on the rise, less people are able to donate at this time. We are asking for those that have never donating blood consider trying to give for the first time. The whole process only takes 30 minutes and will provide a lifeline to a local patient in need. We eagerly welcome new donors to our blood bank program as well as those that have donate with us multiple times. For nearly 50 years, Community Blood Bank has been the sole blood provider to the Sioux Empire and a join cooperative of Sanford USD Medical Center and Avera McKennan Hospital. Join in to provide hope to community patients.”
Blood donors must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with a signed parent consent form available at cbblifeblood.org).
