Tea Youth Baseball Teams bring home four State Runner-Up trophies

The Tea Baseball Association’s younger teams had a great showing at their respective state tournaments July 17-19, bringing home four second place finishes. The 3rd grade and 5th grade teams played in Watertown. The 4th grade and 6th grade teams played in Brandon. The older teams will head to state tournaments July 24-26.

3RD GRADE NAVY

3rd Grade Navy went 4-1 at the State Tournament, bringing home 2nd place in the 3rd Grade Class A Upper Division. The Titans handily beat Harrisburg Mag 14-4, Oahe Powerhouse 16-3, Spearfish Maroon 24-5, and Aberdeen Smittys Black 9-3. They lost 7-2 to the Dakota Dominators in the Championship game.

3RD GRADE GOLD

Tea 3rd Grade Gold took home 2nd place in the 3rd Grade Class A Lower Division. They were 4-1 on the weekend with wins over Aberdeen, Watertown and Spearfish (twice). The Titans lost 18-9 to Sioux Falls Christian in a hard-fought Championship game.

4TH GRADE

Tea’s 4th grade Titans brought home the 2nd place trophy in the 4th Grade Class A Upper Division. They went 4-1 on the weekend, eventually falling 2-1 to Harrisburg Mag in the championship game that went into extra innings. Everyone stepped up to contribute over the weekend and found ways to win as a team through multiple hard-fought games. In the championship game, the Titans had some fantastic pitching from Rory Westhoff and Treyson Moses, as well as an out of the park homerun from Kaceyn Karsky for the lone run.

5TH GRADE

Tea’s 5th grade team went 1-1 in pool play and lost a tight game 8-5 in the opening round of bracket play. The boys played well and fought til the end. In the second game of pool play, Bryce Knobloch threw a complete game gem: 0 earned runs, 2 runs, 7 strikeouts and no walks on 78 pitches. Losing in the semifinals was not the ending this team wanted after a strong season. The team played well and came together strong at the end, coaches said.

6TH GRADE

Tea’s 6th grade Titans brought home the 2nd place trophy in the 6th Grade Class A State Tournament. They went 4-1 on the weekend, They beat Harrisburg Tigers 12U-McKeown 15-2, Huron Heat 12U 19-0, Watertown Arrows 12U 4-3, and the Irish 12U in a 5-4 walkoff. The Titans fell 9-0 to a tough Pierre Snappers 12U team in the Championship game.
