Titan baseball team falls to Fargo North, Red River Riders

On Friday, Apr. 11, the Tea Area High School baseball team took on Fargo North and lost 7-3. Tea trailed 3-0 heading into the bottom of the third, where the Titans scored two runs. Fargo scored two more in the sixth and two more in the seventh, while Tea Area only managed one in the bottom of the sixth.

Cole McKinney and Tyson Gilbert each recorded a hit for the Titans. Bryson Prussman and Daschle Lowery handled pitching duties. Prussman allowed three hits and five runs and recorded nine strikeouts over five innings. Lowery allowed one hit and two runs and recorded one strike-out in just over one inning. 

On Saturday, Apr. 12, the Titans took on the Red River Riders. Tea led 3-2 after the opening inning, but the Riders scored three runs in the top of the third to regain the lead. The Titans tied and attempted a comeback in the bottom of the fourth but only scored one run, losing the game 9-4. 

Jonothan Schlunsen and Avery Hangman each had two hits and Ben Vesecka, Cole McKinney, Tyson Gilbert, Ethan Knettel, and Landyn Johnson each had one hit in the game. 

On the mound for Tea Area was Jake Lingren and Ethan Knettel. Lingren pitched four innings, allowing seven hits, five runs and recording nine strike-outs. Knettel pitched three innings, allowing two hits, four runs and recording three strike-outs. The team will be at home on Monday, Apr. 21 against Brandon.
